Towering Disappointment

This was the extension leg of our Viking river tour up the Rhône. We expected the same caliber, but it fell way short. The Pullman is a monster sized high rise truly unlike any attractive building in Paris. We entered into a perfume sprayed building that clearly is aiming for the ultra modern — so antithetical to what Paris is known for. None of the lobby chairs were comfortable to sit in (upright that is). There is a little cafe which is conveniently located in the upper lobby, however, the coffee is €5 and unbelievably, so is the bottled water! We slid off our beds when trying to sit on them. The pillows were odd and oversized and the comforter, heavy. We were here to celebrate our anniversary, but we walked into a room with two single beds! They offered to switch, but we had started unpacking and didn’t have the energy to repack and move rooms after traveling for hours. The bathroom was decent, however, the deep soaking tub had no non-slip properties which made it tricky for older guests to stand in and get out of the tub. The advertised sky lounge is off limits for non-paying dinner guests but is open to the public after 10 pm. (We had a very agitated employee tell us we could not go up when we walked toward that elevator.) Location is only okay. Our view was of suburban sprawl, a cemetery and two other high rises. The Pullman is across the street from a large train station and has several food and station shops within a somewhat grimy block. If guests want to experience the nicer side of Montparnasse, you’ll need to walk several blocks. The complimentary breakfast was extensive and very good. Dinner in The Umami Restaurant was not. Viking uses two hotels in Paris. This is a poor selection.

We visited Paris for my 21st birthday. It was a surprise trip from my boyfriend and he bought me a birthday package for the room to be decorated. We arrived and we went in the room and there was nothing in the room, the surprise was ruined as he had to go down to reception to tell them, so we asked for our money back. They said we were not aloud our money back due to them ordering the decorations. Which were balloons rose petals and chocolates. The balloons were told were free. We wasn’t happy so we just said they can do it for when we get back later. We got back later and the petals were on the bed but there were no balloons and the chocolates which were £25 for eight chocolates were not nice/worth the money. My boyfriend ended up paying roughly £80 for the decorations and there were no balloons at all in the room when we got back. It was not worth the money and we just wanted a refund as this wasn’t what we paid for and the meaning of it was ruined. Apart from this the hotel was nice and the interior was lovely. Not walkable distance to central Paris and the Eiffel Tower is a lot further than it looks on the pics. However close to transport links what made it easily accessible.

Very professional service in a huge hotel! Large exclusive family room renovated was very good . We stayed at the 21st floor , clean room, great breakfast with lots of choices and also healthy choices like vegetables , salmon , fresh fruits etc . Although we have second thoughts for staying in a big hotel everything is very well organized. For example the lifts going to the floors have automated links with your room card to transfers you on your room . Service in general and reception people very polite . The restaurants at the hotel were very good ( we have eaten at the italian restaurant and was excellent !) Easy access to the floors , access to concierge easy .we fully recommend it. Easy access to the metro and trains from Gare Montparnass station !

Just home from a 3 night stay, B&B, booked with easyJet and stayed in room 2003, a deluxe room. Half hour from the airport and easy enough to Uber to/from. Room was clean and spacious we had a high floor but no significant view. Bed was comfy and room cleaned daily. Breakfast was a typical self serve buffet catering for all tastes. The hotel is located across from the main train/tram station so easy to navigate around the city. The hotel has a sky bar, with a €50 min spend each, but book after 11 and no min spend and great views of the Eiffel Tower sparking at midnight and 1 am (booking is for 2 hours). A €300 pre-authorisation is needed upon check in, this wasn’t conveyed during booking and the tourist tax is deducted from this prior to releasing the pre-authorisation. A really good location to explore the city of Paris

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights for my Birthday in February. When we arrived, the staff were welcoming and friendly. The room was beautiful, spacious, clean and equipped with everything we needed for our stay, with fantastic views - the pictures prove this (the digital shower was unreal). The hotel is situated in a fantastic location, next to the large metro, Montparnasse (which takes you to the zones which include the major attractions). We didn’t have any food or drink at the hotel so unable to comment on this. Our only negative - we would have had drinks at the roof top bar but were disappointed to find out that it was a min €50 euro spend per person. We like to eat out and explore different bars and restaurants when we are away so we didn’t want to spend lots of time up there (so spending €50 wouldn’t have been likely) hence why we also didn’t eat at the hotel.
